Shri Timothy Tajonang Gonmei, IRPS (2001 Batch), Empanelled for Joint Secretary-Level Position in the Government of India.
In a remarkable achievement and a moment of immense pride for the Zeliangrong community, Shri Timothy Tajonang Gonmei, a senior officer of the Indian Railway Personnel Service (IRPS), has been empanelled for holding the post of Joint Secretary or equivalent in the Government of India.
According to reports, the Government of India empanelled 53 officers from various Central Civil Services and organised services for Joint Secretary-level positions on 2 November 2026. Shri Gonmei is among the selected officers and is one of the two officers from the Indian Railway Personnel Service (IRPS) included in the list.
An officer of the 2001 batch, Shri Gonmei has built his professional career in the Indian Railways, serving in the important field of personnel administration and human resource management. He is currently serving as the Chief Personnel Officer (CPO), Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), Guwahati.
The Indian Railway Personnel Service plays a vital role in managing the human resources of Indian Railways, including recruitment, workforce planning, employee welfare, industrial relations, training and personnel administration. As Chief Personnel Officer, his responsibilities are connected with the management and administration of railway personnel.
Empanelment for a Joint Secretary-level position is a significant professional recognition. It makes an officer eligible for consideration for senior responsibilities in the Central Government, although empanelment itself does not mean that a specific Joint Secretary appointment has already been made.
This achievement is not only a personal milestone for Shri Gonmei and his family but also an inspiring occasion for the wider Zeliangrong community. It reflects the importance of dedication, commitment, professional excellence and service to the nation.
His accomplishment will undoubtedly inspire younger generations to pursue education, public service and leadership with determination and confidence.
Heartiest congratulations to Shri Timothy Tajonang Gonmei, IRPS, on this remarkable achievement!
Another feather added to the cap of the Zeliangrong community. May he continue to serve the nation with wisdom, integrity and distinction.
A moment of honour, inspiration and collective pride! ✌️🇮🇳
